Virginia Tech’s new 11 story, 300,000 square ft academic building provides the ideal space for experiential learning opportunities for computer science and computer engineering graduate students. Building highlights include: multi-purpose areas, research and testing labs, a cyber-physical systems lab, maker spaces, a two-story indoor drone testing cage, and more!
The central location just south of Reagan National Airport positions the Institute and its partners near diverse industries and leading tech companies in the growing National Landing technology district, including Amazon’s HQ2. The Potomac Yard-VT Metro Station, just a five-minute walk away, connects our students and faculty to the region, while allowing DC area leaders in academia, industry, and government to easily convene at our facility.

Virginia Tech Cuts Ribbon for New Academic Building in the DC Area, Spring 2025

Virginia Tech opened its new, state-of-the-art hub for computer science and computer engineering in January 2025. The February, 28, 2025 ribbon-cutting event, attended by more than 1,000 Hokies and friends, featured a keynote address from Regina Dugan, CEO of Wellcome Leap, and celebratory remarks from Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
"We have an extraordinary statement to make today. Innovation is alive and well not just in Virginia, not just in the mid-Atlantic, but across the United States. And it’s happening right here at Virginia Tech — how exciting,” Gov. Youngkin said at the opening event. “This journey is one that is filled with both a sense collective pride, a sense of collective accomplishment, and a real sense of opportunity and aspiration for what will happen here.”
